Prepared by Vertex StudioNovember 2026For Peace of Mind Talking Therapy, Bury

How Peace of Mind compares

We reviewed ten UK therapy websites: four local practices around Prestwich, Whitefield and Radcliffe, five of the best-regarded private practices and charities nationally, and the directories most clients use to find a therapist.

Ahead on booking and safety

No site we reviewed combined live online booking, reminders, crisis information and a quick-exit button. The new site has all four.

Gaps closed on trust and content

The best sites win on registration links, plain-English guides and specialist pages. The new site now has these too.

A few facts still needed

Insurers, EMDR accreditation level, ICO number and access details need confirming with the practice before launch.

The sites we looked at

Solo local practitioners are anonymised. Two sites blocked our review, and we found no polished solo trauma-practice site, so the national comparisons are mostly group practices.

What the research changed in the new site

Each item below was a gap on the best competitor sites or a weakness we saw locally.

Live availability

The hero shows when the next free call is, straight from the diary. Directories show waiting times, and this answers “can I be seen soon?” before anyone has to ask.

Built

Registration you can check

Every competitor shows logos. The new site links to the BACP register so a cautious client can verify it in one click.

Needs her register link

Your first session

A four-step page explaining exactly what happens, from the free call to reviewing progress. The best clinics use this to lower anxiety before booking.

Built

EMDR in eight phases

A plain-English walk through the standard EMDR protocol, with the emphasis on safety first. One competitor even gets the name of the therapy wrong.

Built

Pages for the people she helps most

Veterans, domestic abuse and coercive control, adults who were in care or adopted, and neurodivergent adults. No local competitor has these, and each is a local search term.

Built

Self-help guides

Grounding, recognising coercive control, and looking after yourself between sessions. Useful to clients on hard days and good for search.

Built

Privacy notice and complaints

The current site has none, and online booking needs one under UK GDPR. Includes the legal basis, retention, client rights, and routes to the ICO and BACP.

Needs ICO number

Training for organisations

Example topics and formats, following the model of PTSD Resolution’s trauma-awareness training.

Built

Venue access

Each room card now carries an access note. One directory lists Prestwich Holistic Centre as not wheelchair accessible, so this needs confirming.

Needs confirming

Insurers and testimonials

Built to appear automatically once supplied. Nothing is shown until the practice confirms it, so no claims are made on her behalf.

Needs her input

Fixed from the current site

  • A typo (“nd”) in the opening text
  • A footer still showing © 2025
  • Facebook and Instagram links that go to the platforms’ home pages, not her profiles
  • No privacy notice
  • No crisis information anywhere on the site
  • No prices, and booking only by phone or email

Mistakes we avoided

  • Pop-ups and newsletter prompts, which can feel intrusive to someone in distress
  • Prices hidden behind a brochure or a phone call
  • Details that disagree between the site and directory listings
  • Review widgets that fail to load, or claims nobody can check
  • Out-of-date copyright years and stale pages

One simple monthly fee covers hosting, security, backups and support. No big upfront build cost: the setup fee is waived with a 12-month agreement.

Before launch

These need confirming with the practice. Until then the site either hides them or uses neutral wording.

  • Fees (the proposal shows illustrative prices)
  • Her direct BACP register link and ICO registration number
  • EMDR Association accreditation level, if any
  • Insurers she is registered with, and whether she offers concessions
  • Step-free access at each centre
  • Record retention period and enquiry deletion policy in the privacy notice
  • Testimonials, only with clients’ written consent
  • Helpline numbers on the specialist pages, checked against current listings
